Pictures of the cuisines of Victorian cast iron fireplaces and country come to mind at the mention of wood stoves. Originally used only in industrial kitchens, smaller models have been introduced and have enjoyed the house from the 1820's. Independently of modern mechanics, some traditionalists still use these stoves in their kitchens today. Some even claim that food tastes better when prepared with firewood that cook with gas or electric heating fuel.

The invention of wood stoves branched stoves cast iron wood used only for heating. In 1742, Benjamin Franklin invented what is now known as the Pennsylvania fireplace as an alternative to the chimneys used in colonial America. Fireplaces not only a most dangerous method of heating the home, but uses a lot of firewood. Over the years, improvements have been made in the design Franklin, which eventually led to the development of wood stove or "top-Step" kitchens, named for its staggered. These were the first dual-purpose stoves used for cooking and heating.

However, the preparation of meals in the kitchens of wood allows food to absorb flavor smoke from wood. As the wood is burned inside the stove, the energy released molecules seep into the cooking vessel, thus the food the flavor of the wood being used.

The taste is different with each type of wood. For example, one popular choice is apple smoked bacon wood. Mesquite and oak are good choices for beef. To cook the fish you want to use alder wood. Cherry, maple and walnut forests work well with poultry dishes poultry, while walnut is a wonderful addition to lamb, venison and elk.
